Introduction

Identellica is created by Ryan X. Charles LLC, which is wholly owned by Ryan X. Charles, an American entrepreneur based in Texas.

What is Identellica?

Identellica is a pseudonymous identity verification service for the internet. The purpose of Identellica is two-fold:

1. Allow consumers to control access to their personal information. All information should be encrypted client-side wherever possible. Whenever a third-party requests information, the user should be able to explicitly choose which identifying information to share. The user should be able to manage many different identities and selectively reveal which identities are shared with which third-parties.
2. Businesses should be able to get identifying information about users without verifying the user’s identity yet again. Businesses should be able to request pieces of information such as “the user has a verified email address” or “the user has a verified government ID”, without necessarily knowing what that information is.

What is the Business Model?

Most identity services charge businesses to verify the identity of users. Identellica is different. Identellica charges users to verify their own identity. This model aligns the incentives of the user and the businesses. The user is in control of their own data and can choose to share it with businesses. And further, it removes the mal-incentives of businesses to collect as much data as possible about users.

My History

I’m a life-long programmer who started programming in BASIC on my TI-80 graphing calculator at age 10 in 1994. I later learned how to program on my family computer, eventually focusing mostly on web development. I ended up graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a double major in physics and mathematics, and then spent six years in physics graduate school at Washington University in St. Louis before quitting in 2013 to work full-time on Bitcoin.

After spending many years working on Bitcoin at companies such as BitPay, reddit, and BitGo, and eventually starting my own company, Yours Inc., which later produced Money Button, and would ultimately be acquired in 2020, I started Ryan X. Charles LLC to work on building applications with a continued emphasis on the web.
