“InternetKYC” is now “Identellica”

2024-12-02 · Ryan X. Charles

I have decided to rename “InternetKYC” to “Identellica”. Although “InternetKYC” is a very literal and clear name, it just didn’t seem cool enough. After a bit of searching, I’ve settled on “Identellica” for the following reasons:

  • The name clearly conveys both identity and intelligence.
  • It sounds cool.
  • The .com was available and I’ve acquired it (identellica.com).
  • The name is unique and unlikely to be confused with anything else.
  • It sounds like “Artintellica,” which was my previous AI app which I had to shut down. Identellica will have some features in common with Artintellica, and may end up becoming the identity backbone of Artintellica 2.0.

All links to internetkyc.com now redirect to identellica.com.

For the record, I was partially convinced by Claude, the AI, via Perplexity.

Here is the reasoning provided by Claude:

Let me compare “Identellica” vs “InternetKYC”:

“Identellica” Pros:

  • More sophisticated and unique
  • Memorable and brandable
  • Doesn’t limit the product to just internet or KYC
  • Has a premium, enterprise feel
  • Could expand into different identity-related services
  • Easier to trademark due to uniqueness
  • Sounds more innovative and forward-thinking

Cons:

  • Meaning isn’t immediately clear
  • Might require more marketing to establish brand recognition
  • Could be slightly challenging to spell for some

“InternetKYC” Pros:

  • Very clear and descriptive
  • Immediately communicates purpose
  • Easy to understand for those familiar with KYC
  • Good for SEO purposes
  • Straightforward B2B positioning

Cons:

  • Too literal and generic
  • Limits scope to internet-based KYC only
  • Might be harder to trademark
  • Sounds more like a service category than a brand
  • Less memorable
  • Could become outdated if technology evolves beyond “internet”

Recommendation: “Identellica” is the stronger choice because:

  1. It gives you more flexibility for future product evolution
  2. Creates a stronger brand identity
  3. Sounds more innovative and premium
  4. Better positions you as a technology leader rather than just a service provider
  5. Has better potential for building brand equity

The only caveat would be if your target market specifically needs the instant recognition that “InternetKYC” provides. However, even then, you could use “Identellica” as your brand name with a descriptive tagline about KYC services.

Thanks for the input, Claude!
